Kevin Burns Wins 6th Term As Geneva Mayor
Mayor Kevin Burns earned 52.9 percent of the vote to Tom Simonian's 46.4 percent, with more than 4,500 votes cast, unofficial results show.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns declared victory Tuesday night in his race for a sixth term, after once again holding off a challenge from Tom Simonian.
Burns earned 2,434 votes (52.9 percent) to Simonian's 2,136 votes (46.4 percent), according to unofficial election results from the Kane County Clerk's Office.
Burns posted a short message to Facebook on Tuesday night, along with a photo showing his at-home celebration with his family.

The Daily Herald reported Tuesday night that Burns is the "likely winner" of the race.

Burns, who was first elected mayor two decades ago, also defeated Simonian in the 2017 mayoral race in Geneva. Burns earned 62 percent of the vote in that race.
No one ran to be Geneva city clerk or treasurer.
Tuesday's election results are unofficial until certified by the county on April 27. Provisional Ballots cast on Election Day and all late Vote By Mail Ballots postmarked by Election Day will be counted at Provisional Count on April 20.
GENEVA CITY COUNCIL
Four incumbent aldermen are projected to win re-election to the Geneva City Council, while a fifth candidate is also expected to earn her first term.
All five candidates — Michael Bruno (Ward 1), Richard Marks (Ward 2), Becky Hruby (Ward 3), Amy Mayer (Ward 4), Robert Swanson (Ward 5)— ran unopposed. Bruno, Marks, Hruby and Swanson were incumbents.
GENEVA TOWNSHIP OFFICES
Six incumbents ran unopposed for re-election to their Geneva Township offices.

J. Patrick Jaeger and Geoffrey Carreiro are projected to win their races for Geneva Township supervisor and clerk, respectively.
Incumbent Trustees Sharon Brazill, John Connolly, Robert Kovacs and Scott Queen are also projected to win re-election after facing no competition.
PARK AND LIBRARY DISTRICTS
John Frankenthal is projected to win a seat on the Geneva Park District Board of Commissioners, as he was the only candidate in the race.
Mark Adams, Zachary Craft and Arad Chaim Boxenbaum are all projected to win terms on the Geneva Public Library District Board of Trustees, according to unofficial election results.
No one ran to fill an unexpired term on the library board.
REGIONAL RACES
Incumbents Rebecca Oliver and Patrick Kelsey are projected to win re-election to the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees. Both held significant leads over challengers Giselle Gonzalez and Sandra Gonzalez with all 222 precincts reporting totals.
Winfried Cordell Cooper Jr. is projected to win a six-year term on the Kane County Regional Board of School Trustees. He was the only candidate for three open seats on the board.
