Geneva is One of the Worst Cities to Own a Home: Report

The ranking was determined by taxes and insurance, price and jobs/economy.

GENEVA, IL - Geneva might be a beautiful town, but according to a recent report from Value Penguin, it’s one of the worst places in Illinois to own a home.

Value Penguin looked at 15 data points from six sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau and the Illinois Department of Revenue.

“Everything was considered, from various kinds of taxes to home prices and values as well as the cost of homeowners insurance and neighborhood safety,” according to Value Penguin’s website.

Out of 259 cities ranked, Geneva came in at 228. Its ranking was determined by taxes and insurance, price and jobs/economy.

St. Charles beat out Geneva with a ranking of 147 on the list. Batavia did even better at No. 106 on the list.

The best place to own a home in Illinois, according to the report, is Mahomet.
