GENEVA MAYOR

The Geneva mayoral race leads the ballot for voters in the city. Voters have two choices for the city's next leader: incumbent Mayor Kevin Burns or two-time challenger Tom Simonian.

Burns is seeking a sixth term as mayor, having first been elected in 2001. Simonian, a former alderman, fell short in his bid to unseat Burns in 2017.

City finances have become a major point of contention between the two candidates, with Simonian arguing the city's budget has grown too fast over the past decade with Burns at the helm.

Burns has defended Geneva's spending under his guidance and has pointed to a cut in the city's portion of local taxes over the past four years as evidence of progress.

There are no declared candidates for races for Geneva city clerk and treasurer.

GENEVA CITY COUNCIL

Each of the five candidates running for the Geneva City Council is unopposed: Michael Bruno (Ward 1), Richard Marks (Ward 2), Becky Hruby (Ward 3), Amy Mayer (Ward 4), Robert Swanson (Ward 5).

Bruno, Marks, Hruby and Swanson are incumbents.

GENEVA TOWNSHIP OFFICES

Incumbents J. Patrick Jaeger and Geoffrey Carreiro are running unopposed to keep their roles as Geneva Township supervisor and clerk, respectively.

Four incumbents — Sharon Brazill, John Connolly, Robert Kovacs and Scott Queen — face no opposition to retain their seats on the township's Board of Trustees.

PARK AND LIBRARY DISTRICTS

John Frankenthal is the only candidate seeking a seat on the Geneva Park District Board of Commissioners.

Three candidates — Mark Adams, Zachary Craft and Arad Chaim Boxenbaum — are running for three seats on the Geneva Board of Library Trustees.

There are no declared candidates to fill an unexpired term on the board.

REGIONAL RACES

Three races for the Kane County Regional Board of School Trustees also appear on Aurora-area ballots, but only one has a declared candidate. Winfried Cordell Cooper Jr. is running for a six-year term on the board.
