Kane Co. Coroner to Deliver Meals to Needy On XMas
The coroner's office will partner with the Christmas Cheer Foundation to deliver 650 meals to those in need.

KANE COUNTY, IL – With a little help from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, the Kane County Coroner’s Office will be spreading some Christmas cheer this holiday season. Kane County Coroner Rob Russell announced Monday that his office will partner with the Christmas Cheer Foundation to deliver 650 meals to those staying at area shelters on Christmas Day. In addition,
coroner’s office employees will deliver a gift-wrapped new book to children 12 years old and younger, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.
“Christmas is a time for giving,” Russell said. “My deputies and I deal with difficult circumstances throughout the year, situations that are not cheerful. This program gives us the opportunity to renew our spirits and help a few more people along the way.”

Russell, coroner’s office deputies and, of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, plan to stop by three agencies through Kane County on Dec. 25 to deliver the meals and children’s books.
Christmas Cheer Foundation is an all-volunteer charity that has delivered prepared meals and new children’s books to Chicagoland’s hungry for over 35 years. More than 20,000 meals will be delivered this year to people in Chicago and more than 45 suburbs.

It will be the first year Christmas Cheer meals will be delivered to Kane Co. recipients, Russell said. Those wishing to donate to the Christmas Cheer Foundation can do so here.
Harvey’s Tales, Books & Other Diversions, 216 James Street in Geneva, has a collection box where new children’s books dropped off, and Barnes & Noble in Geneva Commons will supply a portion of their donated book sales to Christmas Cheer.
