Local High School Runners Fare Well at State Cross-Country Meet

Congrats to all who competed over the weekend in Peoria!

Several tri-cities runners competed this past weekend at state.

The Batavia HIgh School girls cross-country team placed third at the meet in Peoria. The team’s top runner Emma Stephens finished in ninth place with a time of 16:54. Other runners for the team included: Dakota Roman (22nd place), Daphne Kolody (37), Marygrace Golden (41), Anna Malay (66), Maia Haworth (68) and Alexa Andrews (118), according to the unofficial results from the IHSA website.

The Geneva High School girls cross-country team finished in ninth place at the state meet. McKenzie Altmayer was the first to cross the finish line for the team in sixth place with a time of 16:46. Other runners included: , Emma Ehrhardt (17), Emily Belanger (67), Taryn Christy (75), Sophia McDonnell (123), Mary Grace Neville (154) and Emma McSpadden (159)

Audrey Ernst, a sophomore at St. Charles North, finished in eighth place overall with a time of 16:49. Teammate Madison Kaufmann, a junior, finished in 18 minutes.

The St. Charles East boys cross-country team finished in eleventh place. Runners Mike Gerkin (42), Mark Sciurba (53), Brett Izzo (56), Anthony Zilla (75), Jack Rzpecki (94), Jake Beno (113) and Dan Werner (139) all competed at the state meet.
