Lucy and Dozer are Looking for their Forever Family!

This bonded pair is looking for the perfect family.

Lucy and Dozer are waiting for their Forever Family...

Everybody loves a puppy! I mean, what’s not to love...other than the idea of housebreaking a dog in the middle of winter...or those long nights of a puppy crying as it gets used to its crate...and the hours of training required to help a dog develop great house manners...
Don’t get me wrong, they’re cute, but they are A LOT of work!

Now, if you want a couple of dogs that don’t require any of the above, I’d like to introduce you to Lucy and Dozer, a pair of pure bred Shar Peis who are adorable, housebroken, crate trained and have impeccable house manners!

Honestly, if their foster family was were at a point in life where they wanted a dog or two, they would adopt these two in a heartbeat! They are sweet, funny, affectionate, loyal and would arrive ready to be a loveable and loving member of your household - no housebreaking required!

Dozer (37lbs and 5 years) doesn’t look anything like what most people think of when they hear the words “Shar Pei,” (but he has the paperwork to prove he is purebred) he epitomizes many of the characteristics of the breed such as being loyal and protective of his pack. He is extremely well behaved and understands the meaning of no. He lays quietly on the floor while we eat and never begs and we have never seen him do any “counter surfing.” He also was obviously taught not to jump on the furniture. He happily goes into his kennel when told to do so and is very cooperative when it comes to things like bath time.

He is very protective - barking at anyone who comes through the door - but while he sounds fierce he has been all bark and no bite. He loves to frolic in the yard and keeps us safe from squirrels. His favorite thing in the world, however, is to sit at your feet and be petted, loved and told that he is a good boy.

Lucy (44 lbs and 2 years old) has the classic Shar Pei looks and with a delightful personality..
She is full of funny noises - snoring, snorting, grunting and a bark that I swear can cover four octaves. Sometimes she even whinnies like a horse! She is generally happy to snore the day away, but she still has a good bit of puppy in her and is usually the one to instigate playtime and wrestling with her buddy, Dozer.
She obviously has been trained to have good manners. She does not beg at the table and knows not to go on the furniture. She loves some attention but isn’t needy. And, I swear to you, she is ticklish - and loves being tickled!

These two arrived as a bonded pair, and they are VERY attached to each other. They share a crate. When out of the crate they choose to snooze next to each other. Lucy even likes to use Dozer as a pillow, and he is happy to oblige. Dozer even cleans Lucy’s face after meals. While each may be fine on their own, together they are a magical pair that require little “maintenance” other than feeding, petting and the occasional bath...and lots of loving.

This couple has been through it all together and that’s how they should spend the rest of their lives…together!
