Paula Schmidt, president of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, said officials canceled this year’s Festival of the Vine to keep visitors safe and because Illinois’ reopening plan only allows gatherings of up to 50 people during phase 4.

The chamber is expected to make tickets and additional information available by Aug. 24 on its website.

Laura Rush, the chamber’s communications manager, thanked the Geneva community for its support and promised residents the chamber is “working on creative ways to have smaller, permittable events.”
