Park District Announces Opening Date For New Sprayground
Construction got underway last fall and the new sprayground at Mill Creek Pool is expected to open in early June.
The Geneva Park District is planning to open a new water sprayground at Mill Creek Pool this summer. Construction on the project got underway last fall and the sprayground is slated to be completed by Mill Creek's opening day on June 2.
The interactive water sprayground will feature a variety of squirting, spraying and splashing features, according to a park district news release. Highlights of the new sprayground include: a water playground with a slide, a sprinkling flower and several spouting ground sprayers. There is also a squirting snail, super soaking interactive water cannon, and a playful water parrot.

“We are thrilled for this addition at Mill Creek Pool. The hands-on sprayground will be ADA accessible and feature vibrant colors and fun water features that allow children to utilize all five senses during play,” said Nicole Vickers, Superintendent of Recreation for Geneva Park District, in a Wednesday new release.

The Geneva Park District Board of Commissioners approved the construction of the sprayground at the June 2017 meeting, and construction began last fall. The total cost of the sprayground project is about $450,000, which was budgeted as part of the park district's capital improvement plan, Vicker said.
Mill Creek Pool is a 25 meter, 5 lane flat water pool that has a zero depth play area featuring a water mushroom and spray bubblers. Other amenities include concessions, hospitality room available for rentals, locker rooms and more.

The Geneva Park District took ownership of Mill Creek Pool in 2014.
“We are constantly looking at ways to improve our parks, programs and facilities to meet the community’s needs,” said Sheavoun Lambillotte, Executive Director of the Geneva Park District. The acquisition of Mill Creek Pool allowed us to better serve the needs of our west side residents,” said Lambillotte.
Pool passes are currently on sale now. Early bird pool pass rates are available through April 30, 2018; regular rates are effective as of May 1. New this year, people can choose to purchase a Sunset Pool Pass, a New Mill Creek Pool Pass, or a Gold Pool Pass, which allows users to be a member at both Mill Creek and Sunset Pools.
Information on the grand opening of Mill Creek's new sprayground will be announced in May.
