September Home Sales Up in Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles

There's good news in the local economy: year-over-year sales increases and sale prices.

If you're looking for some good news on the local economy, look no further than the most recent report from Midwest Real Estate Data LLC.

Patch towns throughout the Chicago area showed year-over-year increases in the number of homes sold as well as the average and median prices of the homes.

Here in Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles, September home sales are climbing steadily, with Geneva up 35.5 percent, Batavia up 31.8 percent and St. Charles up 17.4 percent over September 2012.

St. Charles still leads the league for the Tri-Cities, with 54 homes sales in September, followed by Geneva's 42 and Batavia's 29. These are detached, single-family homes we're talking about.

Of the 55 communities in the analysis, just five — Minooka, Montgomery, Palos Hills, Palos Park and River Forest — saw a decline in the number of sales. Some communities saw increases of more than 100 percent.
