St. Charles Man, 71, Killed Crossing Street In Geneva: Police

The man was hit by a car just after 7:45 a.m. Thursday while crossing West State Street in Geneva, police said.

GENEVA, IL — A 71-year-old St. Charles man died Thursday after he was hit by a car in Geneva, according to police.

The man was crossing West State Street just after 7:45 a.m. Thursday when he was hit by a Toyota Yaris, police said. The driver, a 63-year-old DeKalb man, said he had a green light and did not see the man crossing the street due to early morning sunlight, police said.

The St. Charles man was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he died later Thursday, according to police, who did not identify the man.

Two eastbound lanes of State Street were closed near Bricher Road until 2 p.m. Thursday as police investigated the crash.
