Treasurer Needed: Kane County Seeking Applicants To Fill Vacancy

Former Kane County Treasurer David Rickert resigned earlier this month after taking another high-profile job in Winnebago County government.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County is on the lookout for its next treasurer after the job’s previous holder resigned earlier this month.

Former Kane County Treasurer David Rickert stepped down from the role Jan. 2 amid growing calls for him to do just that after taking a new job as chief financial officer for Winnebago County.

Rickert, the longest serving treasurer in Kane County’s history, ran in November to become Kane County's next board chairman but fell short to Democrat Corinne Pierog.

He took the Winnebago County job several weeks later — despite having two years left in his term as treasurer — and initially seemed intent on holding both positions before resigning.

Pierog must appoint a new treasurer to fill the vacancy left by her former opponent for the board chairman’s seat. Statutes require Pierog to replace Rickert with another Republican, who will hold the office for the next two years.

Kane County Board Chair Grieves Death Of Husband Robert Krawczyk

Pierog will be out of her office for at least a week after the death of her husband Robert J. Krawczyk. Pierog announced Thursday that Krawczyk died the night before in their Batavia home.

Interested applicants should email a letter of interest, resume and three references to KaneCountyBoard@co.kane.il.us or deliver them to the County Board Office at 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The treasurer is responsible for managing Kane County’s revenues expenses and controlling internal operations of the office, according to a news release. The treasurer must also prepare and present monthly financial reports for the Kane County Board and manage special funds.

The Kane County treasurer’s job comes with a salary of $99,999.
