GENEVA, IL — The Western Avenue railroad crossing in Geneva will be closed Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 to 29, as Union Pacific works to repair the train tracks. Construction crews will be pulling the railroad pads and replacing the rail throughout the crossing, according to a news release.

The crossing will be shut down to both cars and pedestrians on Saturday morning and is anticipated to be reopened by Sunday evening. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use either the Third Street crossing or the Randall Road overpass as alternate routes, according to city officials.
