101-Year-Old St. Charles School Icon Dies

The local man is remembered as both a veteran and avid volunteer.

John Wredling, the 101-year-old former Superintendent of St. Charles District 303, has died, according to The Daily Herald.

Even though Wredling retired in 1972, he still greeted students every year during the first day of class at the middle school named after him.

“He was the kindest, gentlest, most professional man,” St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina told the Daily Herald.
