Three-Part Free Series Begins Tuesday, Aug. 4

Coming in August, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art (CCMA) located adjacent to the McAninch Arts Center on the campus of College of DuPage presents "Design Your Own Crest," part of the popular CCMA Creates: Kids Series. The three-part "Design Your Own Crest" program's first part will take place Tuesday, Aug. 4. Parts 2 and 3 will take place Tuesday Aug. 11 and Aug. 18. All episodes take place at 12 p.m. The CMA Creates: Kids Series can accessed via the CCMA Facebook page and the MAC Facebook page.
The CCMA Creates: Kids Series is being offered in response to parents looking for interactive learning activities and as a free service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is geared towards kids aged 12 and younger but accessible to all ages and skill levels. “We are committed to continually inspiring our audiences through art,” said Cleve Carney Museum of Art Curator Justin Witte.
Past episodes of the CCMA Creates: Kids Series include "Learn to build a brush with artist Erin Washington," "How To Draw Color Wheel Bicycles," "How To Draw Faces" and "Learn to draw Frida Kahlo with CCMA Curator Justin Witte." The late Cleve Carney provided a significant legacy gift to establish the Cleve Carney Art Gallery at College of DuPage. The gallery opened in February 2014 with its inaugural exhibition Selections from Cleve Carney’s Art Collection. The gallery has expanded to a 2,500 square-foot museum, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, and will host "Frida Kahlo: Timeless" summer 2021. The museum will maintain the standards set by the American Alliance of Museums. More information can be found at TheCCMA.org or by calling 630.942.3206.
