Glen Ellyn— July 15, 2014—Charity Navigator, America's largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities, has awarded Teen Parent Connection the prestigious 4-Star Rating for good governance, sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. The rating indicates that Teen Parent Connection “adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” Ken Berger, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, wrote in a congratulatory letter addressed to Teen Parent Connection Executive Director Becky Beilfuss. Approximately 25 percent of the charities Charity Navigator evaluates have received the highest rating, indicating that Teen Parent Connection outperforms most other charities in America.
"This rating reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality of services to our participant families - as well as our adherence to the best practice standards of the non-profit industry,” said Becky Beilfuss, Executive Director of Teen Parent Connection. “This would not be possible without the support of our donors, our highly-skilled staff, an engaged board of directors and a community that understands and supports our mission and purpose."
Forbes, Business Week, and Kiplinger's Financial Magazine, have profiled Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. Based on information provided in IRS form 990, Charity Navigator analyzed Teen Parent Connection’s performance in seven financial metrics: program expenses, administrative expenses, fundraising expenses, fundraising efficiency, primary revenue growth, program expenses growth, and working capital ratio. It also evaluated the institution in several accountability and transparency performance metrics, giving the agency an overall rating of 60.95 on a scale of 0-70.
