Commonwealth Edison Presents The History and Future of Electricity

Saturday, Jan. 24, 2:00 PM, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society teams with Commonwealth Edison for a free program at the GE History Center.

Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Commonwealth Edison presents a program at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, that answers the questions What is the history of electricity? Do you believe it started with Ben Franklin’s kite-flying experiment? The subject for the afternoon is, “The History of Electricity,” Key milestones in the harnessing of electricity that go back as far as the ancient Greeks will be discussed. The audience will learn how Thomas Edison and ComEd helped bring electricity distribution to northern Illinois. The future of electricity through smart grid technology, smart meters and more will be explained. An electric car will be on display for all to investigate.
