Drive-Up Food Drive Planned At Ackerman SFC May 27

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents can donate non-perishable food items other goods at a drive-up food drive hosted by Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center (SFC) on May 27.

The event, which benefits Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drivers should pull up to Ackerman SFC's front entrance and stay in their cars during the food drive, as volunteers will be on hand to unload donated items.

Below is a list of donation items Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is requesting:

  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • White or brown rice
  • Pasta
  • Canned tuna
  • Tomato sauce and tomato paste
  • Canned vegetables and canned fruit
  • Applesauce
  • Granola bars
  • Cooking oil
  • Flour
  • Cookies
  • Sugar (1- or 2-pound bags)
  • Dried and canned beans
  • Canned ravioli
  • Spaghettio's
  • Canned soup
  • Coffee (1-pound cans and instant)
  • Black or green tea
  • Cold cereal
  • Ketchup and mustard
  • Relish
  • Mayonnaise
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Dish and bar soap
  • Diapers and baby wipes
  • Toilet paper
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo

Monthly food drives are planned at Ackerman SFC for the remainder of 2021. The next food donation opportunity is slated for June 29 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The events are also made possible by Kiwanis Club of Central DuPage and State Rep. Terra Costa Howard.
