Glen Ellyn Approves New Parking Garage
The $16.1 million project got the go-ahead at Monday's village meeting.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Glen Ellyn village board approved plans Monday to build a four-story parking garage at the Civic Center property. In addition to the parking garage, plans call for adding a pedestrian "access way" to Main Street and creating a small public plaza.
The project, which comes to $16.1 million, will add the parking garage behind 535 Duane St. Developers will also demolish the building at 423 N. Main St. to make way for the proposed outdoor plaza.
The four-story parking garage will have an underground level, so it will offer a total of five tiers of parking. This comes out to 277 parking spots.

The construction also includes a row of 10 parking spots "along the west side of the driveway from Duane Street," a press release said.
Construction on the Civic Center parking garage is expected to kick off in spring of 2020 and last through spring of 2021.
