Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ To Send Off Summer 2019 In Style

The village will say goodbye to summer with barbecue eats and live music on Sept. 7.

GLEN ELLYN, IL -- Summer 2019 may mark the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, but Glen Ellyn residents plan to celebrate PorkStock at the village's annual Backyard Barbecue. The free Sept. 7 event features competitive barbecued eats, classes that teach you how to cook a whole hog, and live musical performances from Libido Funk Circus and other local bands.

More than 60 amateur teams are slated to compete in the 2019 Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ, whipping up their own expertly smoked meats and ribs slathered with signature sauces. Winners will be selected by a panel that includes judges from the Kansas City Barbecue Society, local public officials, and professional culinary teachers.

The fun kicks off at 10 p.m. and live music starts at 12 p.m. This year's featured musical performers include headliners Libido Funk Circus, The Amy Kelly Band, and Ralph Covert.
