Glen Ellyn Coronavirus Cases Increase By Less Than 1 Percent

Since March 2020, Glen Ellyn has seen 2,814 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.

GLEN ELLYN, IL —In Glen Ellyn, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 24 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). The numbers reflect a decrease from the previous week, in which Glen Ellyn saw 42 new coronavirus cases.

On March 9, the village had reported 2,790 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,814 as of March 16, reflecting an overall increase of less than .9 percent. The previous week's increase was just over 1.5 percent.

DCHD recently began sharing the number of probable coronavirus cases in each municipality. In Glen Ellyn, there have been 164 probable coronavirus cases. Including probable cases, the total coronavirus case count for Glen Ellyn is at 2,978.

The number of coronavirus cases in nearby Wheaton has increased by 52 cases in the past week. For Wheaton, this is a decrease over the previous week, which saw 70 new coronavirus cases.

As of March 9, there had been 3,944 cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 16 was 3,996. This reflects an overall increase of just over 1.3 percent. The previous week's increase was more than 1.8 percent.

In Wheaton, there have been 202 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020, according to county health records. With probable cases included, the total case count for Wheaton is 4,198.

Glen Ellyn has had 36 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths since March and three probable coronavirus deaths.

Wheaton has had 59 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.

DuPage County recently reported that more than 200,000 residents had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The county also marked another milestone in late February, as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to its lowest point since June 2020.

The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
