Glen Ellyn Kids Plan 4th Of July Bike Parade, Food Drive
The kids will parade around Kingsbrook Glen and then donate food they collected for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn's Fourth of July festivities may be canceled, but that isn't stopping a group of local kids from bringing their own brand of Independence Day cheer. The children, ages 18 months through seven years old, have planned a bike parade and food drive on July 4.
Mom Emily Henkels told Patch, "The young children on my block were disappointed about the cancellation of local 4th of July Parades, and so they decided to organize their own and couple it with a food drive for our block."
The kids will parade around their block on Kingsbrook Glen on their festively decorated bikes, scooters and wagons, Henkels said. She added that the kids passed out decorated grocery bags for the neighbors to fill for the food drive. The donations will be collected after the bike parade and donated to Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, Henkels told Patch.
