Glen Ellyn Racked Up Biggest Rainfall For October In Illinois

GLEN ELLYN, IL — October was one of the wettest on record in over a century for Illinois and Glen Ellyn racked up the most inches of rainfall. After days of thunderstorms and ongoing rain in October, Glen Ellyn logged nearly 16 inches total of rain, according to data from the Illinois State Water Survey.

Their research found that this October landed in the top 10 wettest Octobers since 1895, with a statewide average of 5 inches of rainfall.

The average temperature in Illinois was warmer than most Octobers in Illinois, according to the report, which may have attributed to the increase in rainfall. The first three weeks in October 21 were about 7 degrees above the average temperature, making it the 21st warmest October in Illinois since 1895.
