Glen Ellyn Streetscape Meeting Answers Parking Questions
For now, the village plans to move forward with a design that will retain angled parking on Main and Crescent.

GLEN ELLYN, IL -- It looks like angled parking spaces will stay in some parts of downtown Glen Ellyn after a recent meeting about the village's ongoing streetscape project that was held on Monday. Village officials say close to 50 local business owners and residents were in attendance at Monday's meeting, which discussed how to increase the walkability and improve the aesthetics in the Central Business District without sacrificing too many parking spots.
Planners nixed one idea that would eliminate angled parking altogether, choosing instead to maintain angled parking on Crescent Boulevard and Main Street and to implement parallel parking on other streets in the Central Business District.
The new proposed design should allow for wider sidewalks, more trees along the parkway, and more ADA-accessible parking spots. Village officials also discussed such topics as which materials should be used for the sidewalks and crosswalks.
