Glen Ellyn Village Board Slated to Approve Landmark Status for 1896 Home
Owners say the gable front cottage reflects the heritage of Glen Ellyn.

The Glen Ellyn Historic Preservation Commission is recommending the Village Board consider designating the home at 253 Anthony St. as a Local Landmark. Owners James and Helen Elliott requested that the home be nominated for landmark status because it represents the village's heritage.
The Historic Preservation Commission unanimously approved the proposal Oct. 24.
The gable-front cottage was built in 1896, adjacent to the grounds once owned and operated by Glen Ellyn Dairy, and earlier, the Rathman Dairy. It is believed to have been part of the farm property. The Historical Society was not able to ascertain the original owner, according to the minutes from the Oct. 24 public hearing.
