Glenbard West Goes Undefeated All Season, Defeats Libertyville in State Championship

Glenbard West had an impressive football season that ended Saturday night with a state championship win against Libertyville.

The Hilltopers (14-0) won 34-28 against the Wildcats in the Class 7A championship Saturday at Husikie Stadium in DeKalb, according to the IHSA website. Glenbard West won its last state title in 2012 but did not make it past the semifinals in the last two seasons, according to the Daily Herald.

Glenbard West’s Sam Brodner scored four touchdowns during Saturday’s game -- tying a 7A final record, according to the article. Brodner rushed for 264 yards on 28 carries.

“This is as good a team that’s ever played at Glenbard West,” said Hilltoppers coach Chad Hetlet told the Daily Herald. “I don’t think it’s possible to match them.”
