Live Music, Food Delivery Coming To Glen Ellyn Polar Plaza

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn's new Polar Plaza pop-up skating rink is adding music and food delivery to its offerings.

The rink now streams music to lend a soundtrack for residents who are skating. The rink will also host two live concerts by the Glen Ellyn School of Rock. The concerts will be held March 21 and April 10 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Ice skaters can also take a break from their routine to order food to be delivered to the rink. Food from local restaurants can be ordered via QR codes that are posted under the rink's "Skate and Dine" signage.

The food will be delivered to carts at the western part of the plaza.

Glen Ellyn's Polar Plaza opened Feb. 19 at the Crescent Avenue parking lot in downtown Glen Ellyn. The rink is open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and is limited to 50 skaters at a time.

The 60-foot by 40-foot skating rink is free to use, but skate rentals are not available onsite. Residents can bring their own skates or head to Paul's Shoe Service at 486 N Main St. to pick up used skates.

The rink is expected to stay open into mid-April.
