MAC Hosts Ticket Sale Holiday Party Dec. 7 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Photos with Santa, Holiday Treats, Free Gift with Select Purchases, First Chance to Purchase Timed Tickets for "Frida Kahlo 2020"

The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage(COD), 425 Fawell Blvd. hosts a special Holiday Sales Party, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 7. With shows for kids, grandparents and everyone in between,shoppers will find something for everyone on their gift list.

Free food, entertainment and photos with Santa will make shopping festive and fun. Attendees will also be among the first to be able to purchase Timed Entry Tickets for the “Frida Kahlo 2020” exhibition coming to the new Cleve Carney Art Museum June-August 2020.

“The greatest gift one can give during the holidays is a memorable experience,” says MAC Director Diana Martinez. “We are happy to provide shoppers the perfect opportunity to purchase tickets not only to our amazing variety of shows in our season but to the extraordinary ‘Frida Kahlo 2020’ exhibition, be it a gift for a friend or a gift for themselves.

Ticket buyers attending the MAC’s Dec. 7 Holiday Sales Event can save 10% off the price of tickets to the MAC’s Holiday performances including, as well as shows in the 2020 Winter/Spring presentations (restrictions apply) while avoiding handling fees. Gift certificates are available for those who want to give the theater-lover in their life the option to choose from the exciting roster of shows in the MAC’s season. Anyone who purchases tickets to two or more events will also receive a free “Frida Kahlo 2020” tote bag (one to a customer while supplies last).

The MAC’s 2019 Holiday presentations include The Second City’s “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Sweater” (Dec. 7); Salt Creek Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” With New Philharmonic (Dec. 14-15) and New Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Concerts (Dec. 31). This holiday season, the MAC is again participating in a gift item collection for Metropolitan Family Services and a collection of non-perishable food items to support People’s Resource Center Nov. 24-Dec. 15.

The MAC’s 2020 Winter/Spring presentations include “Colin Mochrie (Of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) Presents Featuring Master-Hypnotist, Asad Mecci (Jan. 12); New Philharmonic’s Production of “The Merry Widow” (Jan. 24-26); Buffalo Theatre Ensemble’s production of Bekah Brunstetter’s “The Cake” (Jan 31 – May 1); Hot Club of Cowtown (Feb. 7); Hiplet Ballerinas (Feb. 8); Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México de SILVIA LOZANO (Feb. 16); Cirque Éloize: “Hotel” (March 7), Lewis Black in his “IT GETS BETTER EVERY DAY” Tour (Mar. 14); Drum Tao 2020 (March 15) and more. The MAC’s Dec. 7 Holiday Sales Party will also be the first opportunity to purchase Timed Entry Tickets to “Frida Kahlo 2020,” a multi-faceted and immersive exhibition coming to the MAC and Cleve Carney Museum of Art June 1-Aug. 31, 2020. Timed Entry Tickets, which reserve a specific date and time for exhibition viewing, are $18 (excludes online and handling fees). Untimed Entry Tickets, which allow visitors flexibility to pick a date and view the exhibition any time during that day’s regularly scheduled hours, are $35 (excludes online or handling fees) and are currently available for purchase in person at the box office or by phone at 630.942.4000. (Note: Holiday Sales Party 10% discount does not apply to “Frida Kahlo 2020” tickets.)

“Frida Kahlo 2020,” presented by Bank of America and hosted by the Cleve Carney Museum of Art (CCMA) and the MAC, will be the largest Frida Kahlo exhibition in the Chicago area in more than 40 years. The exhibition is being curated by CCMA Director and Curator Justin Witte with programming directed by MAC Director Diana Martinez.

The multifaceted exhibition will feature 26 original artworks spanning Kahlo’s life on loan from the Dolores Olmedo Museum Collection, a multimedia timeline with more than 100 photographic images from the artist’s life, a video presentation, reproductions of Kahlo’s clothing, a family-friendly children’s area and a poetry garden. “Frida Kahlo 2020,” will be on view 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday. All tickets will be available in-person, online or by phone beginning Dec. 10.
