At the MAC this weekend: Music, Magic and Theater
Holiday Sing-Along with the Symphony begins Dec. 12; "A Christmas Carol" continues thru Jan. 3; Magic Parlour at Home continues thru Dec. 23

The McAninch Arts Center offers music, magic and theater on demand this week. Selections include:
New Philharmonic: “Holiday Sing-Along with the Symphony”
7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12; then on demand through Jan. 3, 2021

Tickets: $40 per household
For the first time, New Philharmonic offers a concert filled with everyone’s holiday favorites including “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” Tchaikovsky’s “Waltz of the Flowers,” the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah,” plus a Hanukkah medley and more. To make sure no one skips a beat, the lyrics to the songs will be viewable at the bottom of the screen. Featuring guest artists Emily Birsan (soprano), Kate Tombaugh (mezzo), Bill McMurray (bass/baritone) and Jesse Donner (tenor).

COD College Theater “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, adapted by William J. Norris
Now available demand through Jan. 3, 2021
Tickets: $16 per household
This family-friendly 70-minute show, adapted for the COD College Theatre department by William J. Norris and directed by Amelia Barrett, tells the beloved tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, who learns both that change is always possible, and the great joy of caring for those less fortunate. This adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" was written by Norris specifically for the students at College of DuPage and performed for the first time in 2004. The 2020 production was filmed is presented on Zoom.

Tickets for performances on December 11, 12, 18, 19 are $49; for performances Dec. 22 and 23 are $65.
Award-winning magician Dennis Watkins has created an all-new live virtual magic show that delivers world class interactive magic and mind reading directly to living room screens. Broadway World hails Watkins as “A theatrical, mind-jazzing magical-hybrid show!”

And speaking of gifts, now through Dec. 23, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art (CCMA) in association with the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) is offering Gift Certificates for the upcoming “Frida Kahlo: Timeless” exhibition coming summer 2021. “Frida Kahlo: Timeless” will be the largest Frida Kahlo exhibition in the Chicago area in more than 40 years. Gift Certificates are available now for both timed tickets (date and time specific, $18) and untimed tickets (date specific, $35). Applicable service fees apply.
