Man Charged With Burglarizing Church Near Lombard

LOMBARD, IL — A Glendale Heights man has been charged with burglarizing a church near Lombard in mid-April. Krzysztof G. Gawron, 27, of the first block of North Golfview Court, Glendale Heights, faces a charge of burglary to a place of worship in connection with the April 13 incident.

Police say Gawron forced his way into the Divine Mercy Polish Mission Church at 21W410 Sunset Avenue just after 2 a.m. on April 13. Gawron is accused of trying to get into several locked parts of the church before stealing cash donations and a computer system.

According to police, Gawron looked directly at a security camera before removing it.

Police say they used geodata to link Gawron's cellphone to the church at the time of the burglary. He was arrested in early September and was released after posting the necessary 10 percent of his $30,000 bail.

Gawron is set to appear in court again on Oct. 14.
