GLEN ELLYN, IL — A Chicago man faces multiple charges after police say he bit, beat and strangled his ex-girlfriend in Glen Ellyn Wednesday. Marvin Johnson, 22, of the 1400 block of south Hamlin, has been charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery in connection with the incident.

Police say they were called to a home in Glen Ellyn just before 9:45 p.m. for a report of a physical altercation. When they got to the scene, they say they found the victim "badly beaten with scratches around her neck and bite marks on her nose," according to a news release.

According to police, Johnson came to the home to meet with his child and then got into an argument with the mother that turned physical. Police say Johnson threw the woman to the ground and began choking her.

Once she got free, police say Johnson slammed her head into a refrigerator and slammed her to the ground again, putting his forearm onto her neck until she nearly lost consciousness. He then spit on her and bit her nose before letting her go, according to police.

Police say Johnson called Lyft and then poured soda onto the phone in an attempt to break it. The woman was able to call police with her phone and police stopped the Lyft Johnson was in, but he is accused of attempting to flee and was "tackled" by officers.
