Man With Molotov Cocktail Arrested Near Lombard Village Hall: PD

LOMBARD, IL — A Lombard man has been charged with attempted terrorism after police say he was caught with a Molotov cocktail, a bat and a butane torch lighter near Lombard Municipal Complex early Monday. Christian Frazee, 25, of the 900 block of South Lombard Avenue, was also charged with possession of an incendiary device in connection with the incident.

According to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Frazee was spotted with walking near Lombard Village Hall and toward the municipal complex with a bat hanging out of his bag just before 12:30 a.m. Police say Frazee was later seen walking toward squad cars with a lighter in his left hand and a Molotov cocktail in his right hand.

Frazee was taken into custody and police say he had a butane torch lighter and seven other lighter in his possession. Frazee's arrest comes amid protests and unrest throughout Chicago and its suburbs following the death of George Floyd.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement, "The arrest of Mr. Frazee sends the message that in DuPage County we will not tolerate any attempt to utilize the legitimate protests currently occurring as a cover to commit any type of criminal behavior. Fortunately, the alert and quick actions of the Lombard Police Department stopped the potential loss of property and possible loss of human life. Make no mistake, through the cooperative efforts of all our law enforcement agencies, anyone who attempts to conduct themselves in such a manner will be caught, arrested and prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of the law."

Frazee is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $1 million bond. He is set to appear in court on June 29.
