New Coronavirus Cases On Rise Again In Glen Ellyn

Since March 2020, Glen Ellyn has seen 2,790 coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.

GLEN ELLYN, IL —In Glen Ellyn, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 42 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). The numbers reflect an increase from the previous week, in which Glen Ellyn saw 25 new coronavirus cases.

On March 2, the village had reported 2,748 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,790 as of March 9, reflecting an overall increase of just over 1.5 percent.

As of March 2, there had been 3,874 cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 9 was 3,944. This reflects an overall increase of just over 1.8 percent.

Glen Ellyn has had 36 coronavirus-related deaths since March. Wheaton has had 59 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.

DuPage County recently reported that close to one in seven residents had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The county also marked another milestone as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to 3.4 percent, its lowest point since June 2020.

The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
