GLEN ELLYN, IL — Residents who are waiting for ice skating season to kick off in Glen Ellyn will have to wait a little longer. According to the Glen Ellyn Park District, Lake Ellyn and Lake Foxcroft have yet to achieve 8 inches of thickness, which is required for safe skating.

Ice on the lakes must be at least 8 inches thick for plows to remove snow and groom the ice. The Glen Ellyn Park District says it will monitor the lakes daily for any changes. Residents can check ice skating conditions here.

In the meantime, residents can ice skate at Wheaton's Central Athletic Complex, where advance registration is required due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
