No One Was Injured in Sunday Night Fire in Wheaton

Neither property damage estimates nor cause were available Monday

The Wheaton Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 1100 block of Midwest Lane at 9:40 p.m. Sunday night.

“Upon arrival, fire crews identified heavy fire conditions in the attic of the large single-family residence,” Fire department officials said in a written release. “Firefighting personnel attacked the fire from the interior and the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.”

One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape the building safely. No one was injured.

Investigators from both the Wheaton Fire Department and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Taskforce were not able to determine the cause of the fire, but said it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

“While exact damage estimates are unknown, the fire did cause extensive damage to the sections of the roof and attic,” the release stated.
