Pedestrian Tunnel Installed As Taylor Ave. Project Moves Forward
Village officials say the project should be completed by the end of the year.

GLEN ELLYN, IL --- Crews are working quickly to complete the ongoing pedestrian tunnel and underpass on Taylor Avenue before cold weather takes hold. The steel tunnel was installed beneth the Metra Union Pacific West line over the weekend, city officials said.
According to a post online, workers used a machine to tunnel through a retaining wall that had temporarily been put up beneath the tracks. They then reinforced the ballast stone beneath the tracks before installing the tunnel, which is 12-feet in diameter.
The entirety of this portion of the project lasted from 7 p,.m. Friday until about 2 a.m. Sunday, village officials wrote.
