Snapchat Fight Spurred Boy To Stab Boy In Glendale Heights: Cops
Police say the boy stabbed another boy, 12, in the abdomen twice with a Batman novelty knife.
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — Police say an argument over Snapchat is to blame for a 12-year-old boy stabbing another boy, 12, in the abdomen with a Batman novelty knife in Glendale Heights Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the 500 block of James Court for a reported fight just after 4 p.m. They found the victim with two stab wounds in his abdomen. The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening.
The boys got into an altercation via Snapchat and agreed to meet in person to fight, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Police say the boy fled after stabbing the victim with a Batman novelty knife that had a three-inch blade on each end.

Berlin added, “Thankfully, the victim’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. What I find particularly disturbing about this case is the age of the accused."
The accused boy was charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery. He must wear a GPS monitoring device and can only leave his home for school and appointments with attorneys or doctors. He has also been prohibited from possessing weapons or having contact with the victim and the victim's brother.
The boy is set to appear in court again July 1.
