Spring Avenue Water Main Breaks Add Traffic Woes Over Weekend
The water main broke Saturday and then again on Sunday shortly after being repaired.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Commuters in Glen Ellyn ran into a bit of traffic over the weekend after a water main broke not once but twice on Spring Avenue between Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the first water main break forced road closures near Spring Avenue and Route 53. After crews repaired the water main break and began cleanup, the water main broke again Sunday, forcing more road closures.
The broken water main flooded Spring Avenue, making parts of the road impassable and closing the parking lot at Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Glen Ellyn Park District officials said Monday on Facebook that the parking lot exit would be closed Tuesday to accommodate street repairs but that parking would still be accessible.
