New Sushi Spot Coming To Downtown Glen Ellyn

Sushi Ukai will occupy part of the space that once housed Soukup's Hardware in Glen Ellyn.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents will soon be able to sate their sushi cravings at a new dining spot. The restaurant, which currently has a store in La Grange, will offer makimono rolls, bento boxes, udon noodles, and other classic Japanese dishes for dine-in, delivery, or take-out. Sushi Ukai's menu also features a variety of vegetarian options and organic items. The vegetarian bento box comes with crispy, fried agedashi tofu, gomoae, and vegetable tempura. Diners can sub in exotic black rice for just $1 more.

Sushi Ukai's standout entrees include the sushi pyramid — a delectable assortment of lobster, avocado, and tuna rolls, and four different types of tobiko (flying fish roe) drizzled in coconut eel sauce. The restaurant's Dan Dan Noodles give a nod to traditional Szechuan street fare with stir-fried ground pork and chiles served atop a bed of egg noodles.
