Sushi Ukai Now Open In Glen Ellyn
The sushi restaurant, which occupies part of the old Soukup's Hardware Building, opened on April 1.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- Glen Ellyn residents who have eagerly anticipated the opening of Sushi Ukai will be glad to know that the new restaurant is opening its doors on April 1. Housed in the building that was once home to Soukup's Hardware, Sushi Ukai serves Japanese cuisine including bento boxes, udon noodles, makimono rolls, and more.
Sushi Ukai teased pics of the restaurant's interior early Monday on Facebook, writing that the restaurant would be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to give residents plenty of time to sample the fare on opening day.
The restaurant's sushi and sashimi creations are the brainchild of Executive Chef Dong, who learned the art of Japanese cuisine in New York City before bringing his talents to the Chicago area, according to Sushi Ukai's website. Dong has created some standout signature rolls for Sushi Ukai, including the Pacific Coast roll, which wraps salmon, tuna, hamachi, and butter fish with asparagus and collard greens, and the Fire Dragon roll, a spicy melange of hotate, tuna, kanikama, cucumber, avocado, radish sprout roll with black rice drenched in the chef's specialty sauce.
