Taste Of Glen Ellyn, Carnival To Return In August 2021

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Taste of Glen Ellyn and Carnival will be back in a big way in Aug. 2021, after being canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The five-day festival will spotlight local restaurants and feature carnival rides and two stages of live music in downtown Glen Ellyn, Aug. 11 through Aug. 15.

The festival, which is usually held in May, had been going strong for more than 40 years, but was initially postponed in 2020 amid COVID-19 restrictions. Organizers had planned to have the Taste of Glen Ellyn in Aug. 2020, but were forced to cancel the event again.

Taste Of Glen Ellyn Postponed Until August Amid Coronavirus

The return of the Taste of Glen Ellyn will feature samplings from some of the village's most beloved eateries, in addition to traditional carnival fare.

The carnival will be set up just footsteps from the food vendors. Carnival-goers can buy a wristband ahead of the event and part of the proceeds will fund college scholarships for students at Glenbard South and Glenbard West High Schools.

On Aug. 11, Glen Ellyn students and teachers will perform at the event.

Aug. 12 through Aug. 14, live music will take over the main stage. Featured acts have yet to be announced, but a recent news release promises "bands of all genres."

On Aug. 15, spectators can catch local groups performing on the community stage.

A business expo will also be held at the Taste of Glen Ellyn. The expo aims to connect businesses with peers and potential customers.

The Taste of Glen Ellyn has drawn in some 25,000 visitors in the past. More details about 2021 Taste of Glen Ellyn and Carnival are forthcoming. Patch will update readers when more information becomes available.
