GLEN ELLYN, IL — One of Glen Ellyn's most-anticipated restaurant openings is finally here. Two Hound Red, a new microbrewery located at 486 Pennsylvania Ave., hosts its soft opening Thursday.

Two Hound Red recently introduced its house-brewed beers and some select menu items at the Taste of Glen Ellyn. The inventive pub-inspired eats at Two Hound Red, like the brews, have an artisanal vibe and are made with as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.

One menu item Two Hound Red teased at the Glenbard West Boosters West Fest is grilled bread topped with whipped ricotta infused with orange and honey, and sprinkled with fresh microgreens.

For more than a year, the owners of Two Hound Red have been diligently working to transform the former Schmid pharmacy space into a living, breathing brewpub. The result is a refined casual setting accented by exposed woodbeams and cozy black booths lit by minimalist-style hanging lights.

Staff at Two Hound Red will whip up lunch and dinner items at the Aug. 1 soft opening, but say there may be a bit of a wait for diners. After nearly two years of anticipating this opening, Glen Ellyn residents may be more than happy to wait just a little bit longer to finally get a taste.
