Freedom Four Run, 7 a.m., Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road Run for Recreation! The Freedom Four will kick off at 7 a.m. “sharp” on Sunday, July 4, at Lake Ellyn Park. There will be wave starts every 15 minutes in groups of 100 runners. Pre-registration is required at FreedomFourRun.com and the event is limited to 800 participants. All race packets must be picked up at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center prior to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 3. There will be no race packets given out on race day. A portion of the proceeds from the event help support the Friends of Glen Ellyn Parks’ Scholarship Program, which allows families in our community experiencing economic hardship to attain no and/or reduced cost to recreation and athletic programs. 4th of July Parade, noon, Downtown Glen Ellyn The Glen Ellyn 4th of July Parade will start at noon on Crescent Avenue, just west of the circle roundabout, giving families the availability to spread out on the hill of Glenbard West High School. There will be no candy or distribution of any materials this year. The CDC recommends that in large events those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear a mask. More information here. Staging for the parade will follow behind the starting point on Lake Road, Crescent Boulevard, Crescent Court and Park Row as the map below is showing. Glen Ellyn's 4th of July Fireworks, dusk, Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road Join us as Glen Ellyn lights up the sky for this year's star-spangled fireworks. Attendees are reminded that no sparklers or candles are to be lit in the park. No blankets are allowed on Lake Ellyn Park until the park opens on Sunday, July 4 at 6 a.m. Do not use rocks or stakes to hold blankets down and they should not be laid on landscape plants. More information here Suspended Events: Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta and Afternoon Festivities In planning for summer activities, Glen Ellyn Park District staff reviewed current State of Illinois COVID-19 guidance and at that time, concluded that the Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta and July 4th Afternoon Festivities at Lake Ellyn Park would not take place for the summer of 2021.
