Welcome to Glen Ellyn Patch
Local Editor Matthew Hendrickson introduces himself to the residents of Glen Ellyn and takes you on a tour of the site.
Hello Glen Ellyn,
Let me be the first to introduce you to GlenEllyn.Patch.com. Patch is an exciting new community newspaper, all online, just for the village of Glen Ellyn. We want to be your go-to site for everything that is your community, essentially making Patch a digital re-creation of the town.
On our Patch site you'll find news about your local government, sports, the police blotter, Glen Ellyn's arts and business communities and much more. Our articles are researched and written by local, professional journalists and community members, just like you.

In addition, Patch features a comprehensive directory of the village's businesses, schools and government institutions. On our site, you can find anything from where to get a cup of coffee, to nightlife hotspots and contact information for your local government.
Patch also helps keep you connected around town with our Events and Announcements sections. Scroll through our calendar to find out what's going on around town that day or a week from now, and read the announcements to stay informed and up-to-date. You can even discover ways to volunteer around Glen Ellyn and help out the community.

But maybe the best part of Patch is the ability for you to be part of the discussion. Your can upload your own your own announcements and photos. By signing up (it's free) and becoming a member, you can post classified items, let the community know about an event you're having, or announce a recent engagement or birth.
Since Patch is a community website, you can also post comments on our stories and share your opinions with us through letters to the editor and by becoming a columnist. If you've got a news tip or think we should be covering something, it's as easy as clicking the link at the top of the page next to my picture and sending us a note.
For the launch of the Glen Ellyn site, we've got some really great material for you to sink your teeth into. Susan Chun's story on the Philip J. Rock School and Center highlights the financial crisis the school finds itself in, due to money still owed to them by the state. Where will these deaf and blind kids go if the school closes Sep. 11? Writer Alex Keown takes an in-depth look at a tax on water that a Glen Ellyn-based citizens group, DuPage United, says is both unnecessary and misused. We've also got an interview with the new football coach for Glenbard South, more arts coverage, profiles on two local businesses and so much more. I invite you to spend some time poking around our site.
As Glen Ellyn's local editor, I'd like to thank you for taking some time to check us out. Patch is a great way to get the whole community involved in the village and we hope you'll come back again and again to read our new stories. You can also sign up to be a fan on Facebook and get alerts from us on Twitter. We'll tell you where we are around town, give you breaking news and help you to stay connected between stories.
Tell your neighbors and family to stop by as well. We'll aim for a variety of news stories and features that will appeal to young and old. I'm excited to be your local editor and to meet everyone I can around town. Thanks for being our readers.
