Wheaton Express DMV Abruptly Closing For Good
The permanent closure goes into effect Sept. 26.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton residents only have a little bit of time to take advantage of their local Express Department of Motor Vehicles location. The Wheaton Express DMV will close its doors for good on Sept. 26, according to an alert on the facility's website.
Rep. Amy Grant (IL-42) said in an news release that the Secretary of State has been tight-lipped about the closure and that she only found out about it after her chief of staff walked into a branch and asked.
"They planned to just lock the door without explanation," Grant said.

According to Daily Herald, the closure comes after the building's landlord declined to continue leasing the space to the Secretary of State. There is a chance the DMV will relocate, according to Secretary of State's spokesperson Dave Druker.
In the meantime, residents can visit DMV locations in Naperville and other nearby suburbs.
