$4.87 Million Sale Sets Record For Most Expensive Glenview Home

The 17,600-square-foot estate on 3 acres bordering a forest preserve is the priciest home purchased in village history.

GLENVIEW, IL — A mansion sold last month in Glenview set a new record for the most expensive home in the village. The $4.87 million sale of a 17,600-square-foot house smashed the previous record-holding home by nearly 50 percent. The next most expensive sale in town was a $3.25 million property purchased in January 2015, Crain's Chicago Business reported, citing Midwest Real Estate Data.

The seven-bedroom French Provincial-style estate is located beside a forest preserve and the North Branch of the Chicago River. It features a floating staircase, an indoor pool, a basement theater, a basketball court and a pond with a fountain.

The property was last purchased in August 2006 for more than $3.3 million, and a home formerly on the site was demolished to make way. Construction was completed in 2009, and the home was first listed for sale in February for $5.6 million. According to the Cook County assessor's office, its 2018 estimated market value is just over $3 million.
