Glenview Ranked Among Top Locations For Empty-Nesters

GLENVIEW, IL — In its April issue, Chicago Magazine assesses the real estate market throughout the area to explore the best neighborhoods and suburbs for buying property. The "Where to Buy Now" list provides data about the changes in home prices over time and is broken down into four categories, representing distinct types of buyers: "downsizers", "mover-uppers", "first-timers" and "risk takers".

Hyde Park, Lakeview and the Loop were ranked the top neighborhoods in the city for "downsizers," while all three of the top suburbs listed were in the north. In addition to Glenview, Evanston and Palatine made the list, which considered condos in the $350,000 to $950,000 range.

• Median condo sale price: $258,500
• Change since 2015: -2%

Glenview earns praise for its schools, its access to transportation, its walkability and its affordability. Property is likely to continue appreciating slow and steadily, and the town features many attractive amenities for retirees. Glenview offers the "genteel suburban vibe of the North Shore" without the "hassle of a huge house and yard," according to Chicago Magazine.
