19-Year-Old Charged with Sending Harassing Texts

The information below comes from the Highland Park Police Department.

Battery

March 25: Police are investigating a delayed report of a battery. It was reported two physical altercations took place on 3/22/13 at 7:00pm and later at 10:30pm in the area of the 3000 block of Eisenhower Road, Highland Park. The dispute was over individuals speeding and making noise in the street. 

Retail theft

March 26: Augustin Lopez, Jr. (19) of the 1100 block of Carmen, Zion was arrested and charged with retail theft after police responded to a report of an employee theft from a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Lopez was released on a cash bond with a court date of May 8, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.

March 28: Police are investigating a report of a retail theft. It was reported that a male/white approximately 30 years of age stole 16 items of Loreal Perfect Cremes and placed it into a blue back pack and ran out of the store.  The subject was chased out of the store where he dropped the backpack and was last seen walking northbound on Broadview Avenue.  The backpack containing the stolen items was recovered and returned to the store in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue, Highland Park.

Burglary

March 26: Police are investigating a delayed report of a burglary. It was reported that a lock to a storage unit was missing at 10:00 am on March 26, 2013.  The unit owner verified that a push lawn mower and snow blower had been taken.  Officers discovered the fence had been cut.  The incident occurred between Saturday, March 23 10:00 am and reported date in the 1500 block of Old Deerfield Road, Highland Park.

Theft

March 26: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported 4 credit cards were taken from a wallet on March 25, 2013 sometime between 4:57pm and 6:00pm after being left in a locked locker at a business in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park.  The cards were subsequently used at three area businesses in Northbrook Court. 

Aggravated assault

March 27: Blake Cubria, 19, of the 1100 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, resisting arrest and consumption of alcohol by a minor after police responded to a domestic dispute at the residence.  Cubria was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of April 19, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Theft

March 27: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that an unknown person removed two pieces of jewelry an amethyst gold ring and yellow gold/platinum diamond earrings from a bedroom, possibly within the past three months. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park.

March 28: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported 2 credit cards were removed from locked locker at a business in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. The cards were subsequently attempted to be used at the Armani Store in Chicago on March 27, 2013 for $13,000.

March 29: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported between 7:00pm and 8:00pm at a business in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park, a wallet containing a debit card, checkbook and a gas card were taken from a purse in the shopping cart. An attempt to use the debit card was made at 9:29pm, unsuccessfully.

March 30: Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported a wallet was removed from a purse while at a business in the 1800 block of Second Street, Highland Park.  The wallet contained cash, a California drivers license, insurance cards, and credit cards.  Attempts to use one of the credit cards were successful.

March 30: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a shop vac, golf clubs, a moving dolly, and 2 extension ladders were taken from a garage in the 300 block of Delta Road, Highland Park. It is unknown when the theft occurred.

Disorderly conduct

March 28: Daniel Mula (19) of the 1700 block of Heather Lane, Highland Park, Illinois was arrested on a Highland Park warrant and was charged with disorderly conduct after police investigated a report of harassing messages allegedly being sent via text and Facebook to a minor.  Mula was released after posting a cash bond with a court date of April 1, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

April 1: Juan Carlos Sanchez-Lopez (38) of the 500 block of North Avenue, Highwood, Illinois was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of an unwanted subject attempting to gain entry to a locked residence in the 0-100 block of Laurel Avenue, Highland Park. Sanchez-Lopez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of April 24, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.

Driving while license revoked

March 31: Jorge Martell, 39, of the 400 block of Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove, Illinois was arrested and charged with driving while license revoked, uninsured motor vehicle and unlawful use of a cell phone while driving after being stopped by police in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Martell was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of April 24, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.

Interference with police officers

March 31: Eric Freed, 50, of the 4000 block of Cascada Circle, Hollywood, Florida was arrested and charged with interference with police officers after police responded to a report of Freed matching the description of a possible theft suspect in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue, Highland Park. Freed as also found to have a failure to appear warrant for driving while license suspended from Champaign County. Freed was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of May 18, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.
