2 Inches of Snow Expected in HP

While other communities prep for snowmageddon, Highland Park can expect a light dusting.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Officials in Highland Park expect “a coating of 2 inches of snow” by Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service announced late Tuesday that the Chicagoland region could see up to seven inches of flakes from 9 a.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday.

While a Lakeshore flood advisory also sent Tuesday has been cancelled, strong northerly winds of up to 50 mph are still expected near Lake Michigan.

According to a city memo, “the strong winds has the potential to cause damage to buildings and trees, please take extra caution if walking outdoors.”

Anyone experiencing a downed power line should call ComEd immediately at 1-800-EDISON-1 or 1-800-334-7661, or text OUT to 2-6-6-3-3, or access ComEd.com to report the location.

The city’s Snow and Ice Control plan is in place should the situation escalate. Remember, if it snows more than four inches, the city will shovel your sidewalk for you.
