5 Arrested for DUI, Including Man with License Suspended for Prior DUI

Those arrested for DUI last week in Highland Park range in age from 20 to 51.


The following information is from the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Aggravated DUI

Juan Zavala-Gonzalez, 29, of the 1700 block of Longview Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence while suspended for DUI, driving while license suspended, open transportation of alcohol and uninsured motor vehicle after police responded to a motorist assist in the in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 4. He was transported to bond court pending court date.

DUI

Enrique Aguilar, 51, of the 1600 block of Beverly Place in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to signal and no rear registration lamp illuminated after being stopped by police near Beverly Place and Harvard Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Aug. 5. Aguilar was released on a personal recognizance bond with a Sept. 12 court date.

Jorge Vasquez, 30, of the 600 block of Homewood Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and failure to signal after being stopped by police 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road at 10 p.m. Aug. 8. He was released on a cash bond with a Sept. 12 court date.

Matthew Korta, 21, of the 1100 block of E. Port Clinton Road in Vernon Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device and speeding 35-plus MPH over the limit after being stopped by police 1400 block of Half Day Road at 3 a.m. Aug. 9. Korta was released on a personal recognizance bond with a Sept. 12 court date.

DUI, criminal trespass to a residence

Vito D’Amore, 20, of the 400 block of Barberry Road in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol and criminal trespass to residence after police responded to a report of two unwanted people at a home in the 2900 block of Priscilla Avenue at 1 a.m. Aug. 5. D’Amore was released on a personal recognizance bond with a Sept. 5 court date.

Matthew Maka, 20, of the 2900 block of Arrowwood Road in Riverwoods, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to residence, and was released on a personal recognizance bond with an Aug. 22 court date.

A third male was cited administratively for possession of cannabis and is expected in administrative court Sept. 4.
