Big Cat Spotted in Highland Park

Residents are on alert after the suspicious Thursday morning sighting on Ridge Road.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Residents in Highland Park are on alert as a resident of the Hybernia subdivision between U.S. Route 22 and Park Avenue West reported seeing an extremely large cat Thursday morning.

The resident told police Thursday morning she saw the animal, described as “a large feline-type,” in the 2300 block of Ridge Road.

While no video footage or photographs of the animal was obtained, police did find animal paw impressions and waste in the area and submitted them to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for further analysis.

The city urges residents to exercise caution when outdoors with their children and pets.
